"Ayaw na kasi magtakbo 'yan eh. Ayaw na talaga niya. Sabi niya, nababastos lang ako sa pagka-mayor ko, wala naman ako nakukuha," he said. "Na-pressure siya. Marami nang pumasok. Na-pressure siya kaya tumakbo," Duterte added.
The President then revealed that his daughter submitted her resignation letter.
"June 30 kami nag-oath, lahat ng public officials. Alam mo pagka-July 1, nag-file ng resignation," Duterte said. "Sabi niya, maghanap ka na ng mayor mo," he added.
According to Duterte, he will not leave Davao City behind so as not to waste his efforts in developing the city.
"Talagang hindi ako papayag na maiwan ko ang Davao. Sayang ang ipinagod ko," he said.
Sara Duterte confirmed that the she really submitted her resignation to her father but she also pointed out that she no longer interested in talking about for it already happened in the past that one must no longer dwell in the issue.
"It happened in the past, I don't want to dwell sa nahitabo na (sa nangyari na)," she told the media.
Sara added her father only talked about the first part of her letter.
"If you remember naghimo ko (gumawa ako) letter, he did not divulge the whole letter. He only read the first part of the letter," she said.
"I said, 'Do not run because you do not need it' but at the end part of the letter, there was a promise from my end that I will support him, whatever his decision may be. That's why nidagan ko kay nidagan man siya (tumakbo ako dahil tumakbo sya)," Sara added.
Meanwhile, brother of Sara Duterte-Carpio and Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte has been tagged in the corruption in Bureau of Customs.
President Duterte said if there are evidences, show it. If the accusation is true, he will resign.
"I am not defending my son. Prove it, (if) it is true, and I will resign. Sabi ko nga, anyone involved in my family, nasa corruption, bababa ako pagkapresidente. No excuses, no apologies, pero ‘yong totoo lang," Duterte said.
"Itong si Pulong (palayaw ni Paolo) ang negosyo ng asawa niya eh Muslim vendor iyan eh. Kung magtanong lang kayo sa pantalan, palaging nasa pantalan iyan," he added.
Paolo was dragged by a Customs broker, Mark Taguba, claiming that he is the leader of the so-called Davao Group and he is responsible why undocumented shipments are able to pass the BOC.
