A member of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) was found dead inside his quarters at the Malacañang compound on Tuesday, September 26.
The victim, identified as Major Harim Gonzaga,37, was assigned to G3 (Operations), which handles the schedule of PSG activities had a gunshot wound to the chest.
PSG Chief Brigadier General Lope Dagoy said the body was discovered by his wife Sheila who is a sergeant in the security force at 8:50 am from a gunshot to the chest inside the quarters they shared and noted that there were no signs of struggle at the scene.
“We cannot speculate. Mahirap sabihing suicide. We don’t have all the data,” he was quoted as saying.
Dagoy said Sheila Gonzaga had left their quarters to get something from the office and returned to find her husband dead.
As for President Rodrigo Duterte’s whereabouts during the incident, the PSG chief said he was most likely in the compound, inside Bahay Pagbabago.
The PSG commander said there were no signs of foul play or struggle when he visited the quarters of Gonzaga but stressed he was leaving it to investigators of the Manila Police District to come up with definitive findings.
“I assume the President was there pero malayo naman iyan sa lugar ng pinanggalingan ng putok,” he added.

“Of course it’s a matter of concern. However, we need to clarify exactly what it was all about,” Abella said.
